Electrical and computer engineering students compete in American Society of Naval Engineers competition

Three Capstone Design teams from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering traveled to Virginia Beach, Virginia to present their electric driven remote-controlled boats during the annual American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE) Promoting Electric Propulsion (PEP) Boat competition from April 15-18.

Initiated in 1992, the Hall of Distinction recognizes and honors UK Engineering alumni for exemplary professional accomplishments, outstanding character and an ongoing commitment to community service. IEEE Power and Energy Society Plus Initiative Scholarships for UK Students

For the current academic year, 2024-2025, UK is the school with the most students (5) awarded as PES Scholars, out of the total of 84 high-achieving undergraduates in electrical engineering, who have been selected from 55 universities across the USA, Canada & Puerto Rico.

Alexandra "Zan" Paterson, assistant professor with joint appointments in materials engineering and electrical engineering, recently authored, "Improved organic electrochemical transistor stability using solvent degassing and chemical doping," published in Nature Electronics, a monthly online journal from Nature that publishes original research in the field of electronics.

SPARK and PEIK New Generation of Research Students Present at the ICRERA International Conference

SPARK Laboratory and Power and Energy Institute of Kentucky (PEIK) research students participated in the recent edition of the ICRERA Conference, which was held in Nagasaki, Japan. The annual series of conferences, which covers topics of renewable and alternative energy, is organized together with the IEEE and held previous editions in the US and internationally, including in Canada, United Kingdom, and France.
